Peace Camp International – Uganda
After several years of successful & rewarding experience by hosting Peace Camp International in Seattle, our founder, Gretchen Rowe, and Bernard Omuse, Director of Ma’s Jr. School in Tororo, Uganda, started Peace Camp International Uganda in 2017.
Through word of mouth, “Peace Camp International” has become one of the most anticipated events of the year for children in Tororo, Uganda. Although the camp runs for only one week a year, many young leaders eagerly apply to serve as camp counselors, and participation has grown to more than 70 children in 2025.
At Peace Camp Int’l – Uganda, the meals provided to children throughout the camp week, we fund for transportation so they can participate in community service activities—such as visiting the local prison or participating in street clean-up projects. Swimming at the local hotel is a rare and exciting opportunity for the children. During the camp, the children are also given the opportunity to visit a local radio station, where they share the value of Peace Camp International with the people of Tororo, Uganda, as well as those following along online.

“The most beautiful thing about Peace Camp International is that everybody celebrates each other as a gift. Everyone becomes a gift to each other. That gift brings the light. We share the gifts, we share the light that resonate with each of us, and together we make a better place – It’s a place where everybody feels safe, everybody feels welcome, and everybody celebrates who they are.”
