United Village
United Village is a non-profit organization under the fiscal sponsorship of Interfaith Community Sanctuary of Seattle, WA. We provide support for youth empowerment and development projects between Peace Camp International, Uganda Martyrs Orphan Project, and Maher Ashram in Pune, India.
Founder : Gretchen Rowe
Gretchen Rowe has over 30 years of experience working with children in a variety of camp and scholastic capacities. She recently retired from being a reading and multi-lingual teacher at McDonald International School, Seattle Public School. This is her 12th year directing Peace Camp International.
Peace Camp International Seattle
Peace Camp International Seattle is a unique day camp which takes place each Summer at the Interfaith Community Sanctuary in Seattle, WA, USA. Campers and counselors gather from within the Seattle community and worldwide (especially from our affiliate organizations in India and Uganda) to help integrate the beauty of the gifts within through a variety of activities. It is a wonderful way for participants to make and keep connections with others from across the globe!
Uganda Martyrs Orphan Project (UMOP)
Uganda Martyrs Orphan Project is an indigenous non-profit launched in 1990 by Margaret Anyokorit with the mission to provide a safe, supportive environment, as well as an education for orphans who were left in the wake of war and the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Today, the project is run by Margaret’s Brother, Rev. Fr. Centurio Olaboro, who continues to follow her dream of providing hope and a brighter future for the country of Uganda.
Maher Ashram
Maher Ashram is a wonderful organization founded by Sister Lucy Kurien in 1997 with the mission to render aid and housing to destitute women, children, and men all over India by providing counseling, work training, and more. Maher has now grown exponentially to include several homes in multiple cities, which provide help for an incredible amount of Indian citizens, regardless of gender, caste, creed, or religion.
